Who We Are

Joe Coco moved to Montana in 1993, and he has been serving in the financial services industry ever since.  He is a military brat who has lived throughout the world.  Graduating from high school on Yokosuka Naval Base, Japan in 1981, Joe attended the University of Colorado on a Marine Corps NROTC scholarship, where he finished top in his NROTC class. 

Graduating in 1985 with a B.A. in Asian Studies, he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps.  Serving in a variety of infantry and reconnaissance billets, Joe was deployed to such locations as Okinawa, Japan, South Korea, the Republic of the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.  Joe is a military parachutist and combat diver, and is a veteran of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.  In 1992, Joe attended the Army’s Infantry Officers Advance Course and was named class Distinguished Honor Graduate.  Joe left active military service in 1993, eventually earning the rank of Major in the Marine Corps Reserve.

Upon leaving the military, Joe turned his investment hobby into a career.  He took over the Whitefish branch of Edward Jones, a large national investment firm, where he grew the assets in the branch from $2.5 million to over $100,000,000.  The last two years Joe served at Edward Jones he was rated by his clients as the number one advisor in his region for customer service excellence.

Frustrated with the bureaucracy of working for a large company, Joe decided to start his own investment firm.  In October of 2009, Joe established COCO Enterprises, LLC (now Piedmont Capital Management).  As a truly independent advisor, Joe is able to give unbiased advice and provide a wide variety of services that best meet the needs of his customers.

Since moving to Whitefish, Joe has served on a variety of civic and non-profit boards. Joe is a member of Easthaven Baptist Church.   An Eagle Scout himself, Joe served as Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 17 from 2001-2006. Currently, Joe is the Troopmaster of Trail Life USA Troop MT-3368, where he camps every month in Montana’s outdoors. Joe is also the chairman of the board for the Frontier Institute, a Montana public policy think tank.  In his free time, Joe enjoys homesteading, studying and debating philosophy, summer and winter backpacking, and playing guitar.

Joe and Linda have been married since 1985 and have two adult children and three grandchildren.

Tom Schuch, Co-Founder and Investment Advisor Representative of Piedmont Capital grew up in Whitefish, MT and graduated from Whitefish High School in 2005.  He completed his undergraduate studies at Bethel University in St. Paul, MN and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training in 2009.  In the summer of that same year, Tom enrolled in the Master’s program at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and successfully gained his degree in Kinesiology two years later. 

When the opportunity arose to work with COCO Enterprises, Tom made the decision to take a new course of action and pursue a career that had always been of interest to him.  Tom currently resides in Whitefish.  When not at the office, he enjoys playing guitar, spending time with family, and fishing and hiking in the great outdoors of northwest Montana.

Erika Morck, our office Administrator, joined the Piedmont Capital Management team in 2013. When you call or visit Piedmont, she is your first point of contact and aims to make your interaction with us productive, enjoyable, and uplifting.  She specializes in making you feel welcome, client relations, account maintenance, client communications, newsletter production, keeping the office running smoothly and putting a smile on the face of everyone she interacts with. Whew!

She graduated from Montana State University–Billings with a B.A. in Communications and a minor in Political Science/Public Administration.  A Wyoming native with stints in Montana, Virginia, and Colorado before finally settling once again in Billings, Montana, Erika will always call Montana home. An eastern Montana plains girl at heart, her love of adventure and the lure of the Flathead Valley called her to uproot after 25 years in Billings and move north in 2013.  Erika is now “settled” in her home in Columbia Falls and "loves" living at the mouth of a wind tunnel - Bad Rock canyon

Erika’s professional background includes public affairs, wedding and event planning, real estate office administration, and logistics and sales support for a Billings-based mining company. Erika is active in her church and is a licensed Lay Pastoral Associate, filling in for clergy and presiding in churches without a pastor. She sings in the Glacier Symphony Chorale, Crown of the Continent Choir, and Columbia Falls Community Choir – oh how she loves to sing!  She also enjoys writing, photography, playing piano, and most of all, spending copious amounts of time adventuring with her dog, Ember.  Together they explore all the Flathead and NW Montana’s mountains and forests have to offer.

Alex Musso is the Social Media Director and Financial Analyst at Piedmont Capital Management. Born and raised in Houston, TX, Alex earned a B.A, in English Writing and Rhetoric from St. Edward's University in 2009.  In 2010, after spending their entire lives in Texas, Alex and his wife Beth moved from Houston to Kalispell, where they now live.  

Alex enjoys discussing issues of politics, economics, and the modern social landscape.  Alex also enjoys sports (especially football), as well as hiking, target shooting, camping, swimming, kayaking, skiing, snowshoeing, and the many other outdoor activities that northwest Montana offers.  Alex and Beth are also avid foodies, oenophiles, and zythophiles.  

Drew Coco, Co-Founder and an Investment Advisor Representative of Piedmont Capital Management grew up in Whitefish, MT and graduated from Whitefish High School in 2009. Drew spent two years at the Naval Academy Prep School and Naval Academy before pursuing independent studies within and outside the field of finance. Before joining former Coco Enterprises and later starting Piedmont Capital, Drew spent many years living in Indianapolis, IN where he met his wife, Kaela.

During his time in the Midwest he worked for Norfolk Southern Corporation in the Communications and Signal Departments. When not in the office, Drew enjoys reading books on various topics, trail running, playing guitar and piano, and spending time on the family farm with his wife, two-year old daughter and newborn twins. Drew is a Certified Investment Management Analyst®
